Australia’s largest solar photovoltaic power system, to be located over six separate buildings at the Adelaide Showgrounds, will be designed and installed by a partnership between Built Environs and Solar Shop Australia.
Once completed, the solar system is expected to produce approximately 1,435 MWh of electricity annually, enough energy to power over 230 households. The 1 MW rooftop solar system is approximately two and a half times the size of the Singleton Solar Power Station in New South Wales, currently Australia’s largest solar system.
Solar Shop Australia Managing Director Adrian Ferraretto said that the project is a significant step in the evolution of the solar industry in Australia.
“Australia has one of the best climates for producing solar energy in the world and this 1 MW system will highlight to the community the benefits of investing in large scale solar systems,” said Mr Ferraretto.
