Independent solar hot water company Apricus Australia is offering up to $15 million worth of its systems to flood-affected Queenslanders to help make their homes liveable again.

Queensland householders who apply will receive a solar hot water system with an average retail value of approximately $4,000 at little or no cost, excluding installation.

Apricus Australia Director Chris Taylor said that interested households need to register their details here at the Queensland Department of Infrastructure website before midnight on 25 March, 2011.

In addition, solar power company SolarSwitch will be donating $100 for every solar electricity system sold in Queensland until the end of February to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.

“As a family-owned and run company, our hearts go out to the victims of this terrible disaster and we hope SolarSwitch and our valued clients can play a small part in helping the residents of Queensland recover,” said Adam Tesoriero, Director of SolarSwitch.

Solar installation company Energy Matters also made a donation. Energy Matters contributed $1,000 to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal, and then established an appeal whereby it matched, dollar for dollar, up to $100 per person, other donations made to the appeal from 17 January to 1 February.

The Energy Matters appeal raised a total of $5,220.
