EcoGen 2010 is set to be the clean energy event of the year, bringing together the highest levels of the clean energy industry, locally and internationally. Mark Schneider will be speaking between 1:00–2:30pm in a session titled ‘Driving investment in renewables’ on Day One of EcoGen 2010, 6 September.
Mark's team at Investec Bank is responsible for originating, implementing and managing infrastructure investments for the bank and its clients. The team has a particular focus on clean energy.
Since 2007 the Specialised Funds and Investments group has become a leading developer of clean energy projects in Australia and New Zealand. Amongst its successes are the Oaklands Hill Project (Victoria) and the Coopers Gap Project (Queensland), both sold to AGL in December 2008.
More recently, in March 2010 the team completed the development of the 206 MW Collgar Wind Farm in Western Australia with the sale of the project with construction commencing to the UBS International Infrastructure Fund and the Retail Employees Superannuation Trust. Mark holds an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science with majors in Pure Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Sydney. Mark was a founding Director of Viridis Energy Capital Pty Ltd, the manager of the ASX-listed Viridis Clean Energy Group. Prior to joining Investec, Mark was the Global Merchant Power specialist in the Project Finance team of the National Australia Bank.

Before that, he established and led a successful proprietary electricity trading desk for Societe Generale, a capability that distinguished the project finance offering of Societe Generale from those of its competitors.
