Trigeneration plant planned for EcoGen 2010 venue

Expressions of interest are being sought for a company to design, supply, install and operate a trigeneration plant for the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, the venue for EcoGen 2010.

The Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority is overseeing the project, which will provide cooling, heat and power services for the Centre, as well as Darling Harbour.

The city of Sydney itself is an apt location for EcoGen 2010, as home to many renewable energy projects.

Sydney Theatre Company recently completed its Greening the Wharf project, which included installing a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic array on the roof of its headquarters at Walsh Bay. Sydney Town Hall has also undertaken a solar installation of its own, constructing a 240-panel, 48-kilowatt solar array on the roof of the Council Chambers.

Doltone House, a function centre at Sydney’s Darling Island Wharf, became the second building in Australia to achieve the 6 Star Green Star V2 As Built rating by the Green Building Council of Australia at the end of last year.

Also in Sydney, a low-emissions redevelopment is planned at the old Carlton United brewery site, complete with an onsite trigeneration plant.
