Garrad Hassan has completed preliminary studies estimating the size of the development at 50 MW.

CBD estimates it will take approximately two years to update wind data and gain the necessary approvals for the site.

The company said it may:

  • Develop the site and on-sell as an approved development or
  • Take a minority interest in the development to generate recurrent income.

The latter will depend on CBD’s ability to source funding for its share of the project.

In addition, CBD will progress to complete construction of the wind turbine project on the Chatham Islands, 800 km east of Christchurch. The project resulted from a tender CBD won in December 2008 and is a 20 year BOOT project, with CBD to build, own and operate a new wind powered electricity system.
